For the 49 days from the second day of Passover until Shavuot, it is a mitzvah to count each day. Since hitting the app stores five years ago, Chabad.org’s Omer Counter app has assisted thousands of people to fulfill this biblical obligation.

This year, a record number of people have already counted with the app each evening, and they are poised to count a whopping 2 million counts after just 48 days, smashing the previous record, when they counted 1.7 million in 2018 over the course of the full 49 days.

“It is really gratifying to see how we have enabled so many people to count the Omer,” says Chabad.org app developer Dov Dukes. “This mitzvah is so easy to do, yet it’s so easy to forget. We are honored that people have trusted us to help them remember to count each night.”
