| 1Now Elisha had spoken to the woman whose son he had revived, saying, "Get up and go, you and your household, and sojourn in a place suitable for you to sojourn, for the Lord has decreed a famine, and it is destined to come upon the land for seven years." |

אוֶאֱלִישָׁ֡ע דִּבֶּ֣ר אֶל־הָאִשָּׁה֩ אֲשֶׁר־הֶחֱיָ֨ה אֶת־בְּנָ֜הּ לֵאמֹ֗ר ק֚וּמִי וּלְכִי֙ אַ֣תְּ (כתיב אַ֣תְּי) וּבֵיתֵ֔ךְ וְג֖וּרִי בַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר תָּג֑וּרִי כִּֽי־קָרָ֚א יְהֹוָה֙ לָֽרָעָ֔ב וְגַם־בָּ֥א אֶל־הָאָ֖רֶץ שֶׁ֥בַע שָׁנִֽים: |
| Now Elisha had spoken to the woman: already seven years before. |
|
וֶאֱלִישָׁע דִּבֶּר אֶל הָאִשָּׁה:
זֶה שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים.
|
| for the Lord has decreed a famine: This is the famine that took place in the days of Joel the son of Pethuel. |
|
כִּי קָרָא ה' לָרָעָב:
הוּא הָרָעָב אֲשֶׁר הָיָה בִּימֵי יוֹאֵל בֶּן פְּתוּאֵל.
|
| 2And the woman got up and did according to the word of the man of God: and she and her household went, and she sojourned in the land of Philistines for seven years. |
|
בוַתָּ֙קָם֙ הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה וַתַּ֕עַשׂ כִּדְבַ֖ר אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וַתֵּ֚לֶךְ הִיא֙ וּבֵיתָ֔הּ וַתָּ֥גָר בְּאֶֽרֶץ־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים שֶׁ֥בַע שָׁנִֽים: |
| 3And it came about at the end of seven years that the woman returned from the land of Philistines; and she went out to complain to the king about her house and about her field. |
|
גוַיְהִ֗י מִקְצֵה֙ שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים וַתָּ֥שָׁב הָאִשָּׁ֖ה מֵאֶ֣רֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֑ים וַתֵּצֵא֙ לִצְעֹ֣ק אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ אֶל־בֵּיתָ֖הּ וְאֶל־שָׂדָֽהּ: |
| about her house and about her field: which robbers occupied. |
|
אֶל בֵּיתָהּ וְאֶל שָׂדָה:
שֶׁהֶחֱזִיקוּ בָהּ גַּזְלָנִים.
|
| 4Now the king was speaking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God, saying, "Please tell me all the great things that Elisha performed." |
|
דוְהַמֶּ֗לֶךְ מְדַבֵּר֙ אֶל־גֵּ֣חֲזִ֔י נַ֥עַר אִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים לֵאמֹ֑ר סַפְּרָה־נָּ֣א לִ֔י אֵ֥ת כָּל־הַגְּדֹל֖וֹת אֲשֶׁר־עָשָֹ֥ה אֱלִישָֽׁע: |
| 5And it was that he was telling the king that he revived the dead, that the woman whose son he had revived complained to the king about her house and about her field. And Gehazi said, "My lord the king, this is the woman and this is her son whom Elisha revived." |
|
הוַ֠יְהִי ה֥וּא מְסַפֵּ֣ר לַמֶּלֶךְ֘ אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־הֶחֱיָ֣ה אֶת־הַמֵּת֒ וְהִנֵּ֨ה הָאִשָּׁ֜ה אֲשֶׁר־הֶחֱיָ֚ה אֶת־בְּנָהּ֙ צֹעֶ֣קֶת אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ עַל־בֵּיתָ֖הּ וְעַל־שָׂדָ֑הּ וַיֹּ֚אמֶר גֵּֽחֲזִי֙ אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ זֹאת הָֽאִשָּׁ֔ה וְזֶה־בְּנָ֖הּ אֲשֶׁר־הֶחֱיָ֥ה אֱלִישָֽׁע: |
| 6And the king asked the woman and she told him: and the king appointed for her one eunuch, saying, "Return all her property, and all the produce of the field from the day she left the land until now." |
|
ווַיִּשְׁאַ֥ל הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ לָאִשָּׁ֖ה וַתְּסַפֶּר־ל֑וֹ וַיִּתֶּן־לָ֣הּ הַמֶּלֶךְ֩ סָרִ֨יס אֶחָ֜ד לֵאמֹ֗ר הָשֵׁ֚יב אֶת־כָּל־אֲשֶׁר־לָהּ֙ וְאֵת֙ כָּל־תְּבוּאֹ֣ת הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה מִיּ֛וֹם עָזְבָ֥ה אֶת־הָאָ֖רֶץ וְעַד־עָֽתָּה: |
| 7And Elisha came to Damascus when Ben-Hadad was ill; and it was told to him, saying, "The man of God is coming here." |
|
זוַיָּבֹ֚א אֱלִישָׁע֙ דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק וּבֶן־הֲדַ֥ד מֶֽלֶךְ־אֲרָ֖ם חֹלֶ֑ה וַיֻּגַּד־ל֣וֹ לֵאמֹ֔ר בָּ֛א אִ֥ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים עַד־הֵֽנָּה: |
| And Elisha came to Damascus: to influence Gehazi to repent. |
|
וַיָּבֹא אֱלִישָׁע דַּמֶּשֶׂק:
לְהַחֲזִיר אֶת גֵּיחֲזִי בִּתְשׁוּבָה.
|
| 8And the king said to Hazael, "Take a gift in your hand and go toward the man of God, and inquire of the Lord from him, saying, "Will I recover from this illness?" |
|
חוַיֹּ֨אמֶר הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶל־חֲזָהאֵ֗ל קַ֚ח בְּיָֽדְךָ֙ מִנְחָ֔ה וְלֵ֕ךְ לִקְרַ֖את אִ֣ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים וְדָרַשְׁתָּ֙ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֚ה מֵֽאוֹתוֹ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הַאֶחְיֶ֖ה מֵחֳלִ֥י זֶֽה: |
| 9And Hazael went toward him and took a gift in his hand and all the bounty of Damascus, a load of forty camels; and he came and stood before him and said, "Your son, Ben-Hadad, the king of Aram, has sent me to you, saying, 'Will I recover from this illness?' " |
|
טוַיֵּ֣לֶךְ חֲזָאֵל֘ לִקְרָאתוֹ֒ וַיִּקַּ֨ח מִנְחָ֚ה בְיָדוֹ֙ וְכָל־ט֣וּב דַּמֶּ֔שֶׂק מַשָּׂ֖א אַרְבָּעִ֣ים גָּמָ֑ל וַיָּבֹא֙ וַיַּעֲמֹ֣ד לְפָנָ֔יו וַיֹּ֗אמֶר בִּנְךָ֙ בֶן־הֲדַ֚ד מֶֽלֶךְ־אֲרָם֙ שְׁלָחַ֚נִי אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הַאֶחְיֶ֖ה מֵחֳלִ֥י זֶֽה: |
| 10And Elisha said to him, "Go say to him, 'You will live,' but the Lord has shown me that he will die." |
|
יוַיֹּ֚אמֶר אֵלָיו֙ אֱלִישָׁ֔ע לֵ֥ךְ אֱמָר־ל֖וֹ (כתיב לֹ֖א) חָיֹ֣ה תִחְיֶ֑ה וְהִרְאַ֥נִי יְהֹוָ֖ה כִּֽי־מ֥וֹת יָמֽוּת: |
| ‘You will recover’: Toward Hazael he said that he would live instead of Ben Hadad and occupy the throne. |
|
חָיֹה תִחְיֶה:
כְּלַפֵּי חֲזָאֵל אָמַר, שֶׁיִּחְיֶה תַּחַת בֶּן הֲדָד לַמַּלְכוּת.
|
| 11He made his face expressionless and held it a long time; then the man of God wept. |
|
יאוַיַּעֲמֵ֥ד אֶת־פָּנָ֖יו וַיָּ֣שֶׂם עַד־בּ֑שׁ וַיֵּ֖בְךְּ אִ֥ישׁ הָאֱלֹהִֽים: |
| He made his face expressionless: [lit. he made his face stand. I.e.,] he held in his expression of grief, for he wanted to cry, so as not to cry before Hazael, and he made an effort to stand and control himself. |
|
וַיַּעֲמֵד אֶת פָּנָיו:
פָּנִים שֶל צַעַר שֶׁלּוֹ שֶׁהָיָה מְבַקֵּשׁ לִבְכּוֹת, הֶעֱמִיד, שֶׁלֹּא יִבְכֶּה בִּפְנֵי חֲזָאֵל, וַיָּשֶׂם לִבּוֹ לַעֲמֹד וּלְהִתְאַפֵּק.
|
| a long time: ad bosh, [lit. until he delayed,] like “boshesh” (Ex. 32:1), and he could not control himself and wept. |
|
עַד בּשׁ:
כְּמוֹ בּוֹשֵׁשׁ, וְלֹא יָכֹל לְהִתְאַפֵּק וַיֵּבְךְּ.
|
| 12And Hazael said, "Why does my lord weep?" And he said, "Because I know the evil that you will do to the children of Israel. You will set fire to their fortresses, and you will slay their youths with the sword, and you will dash their infants, and you will rip open their pregnant women." |
|
יבוַיֹּ֣אמֶר חֲזָאֵ֔ל מַדּ֖וּעַ אֲדֹנִ֣י בֹכֶ֑ה וַיֹּ֡אמֶר כִּֽי־יָדַ֡עְתִּי אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁר־תַּעֲשֶׂה֩ לִבְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל רָעָ֗ה מִבְצְרֵיהֶ֞ם תְּשַׁלַּ֚ח בָּאֵשׁ֙ וּבַחֻֽרֵיהֶם֙ בַּחֶ֣רֶב תַּהֲרֹ֔ג וְעֹלְלֵיהֶ֣ם תְּרַטֵּ֔שׁ וְהָרֹתֵיהֶ֖ם תְּבַקֵּֽעַ: |
| you will dash: [Heb.] תְּרַטֵשׁ an expression of splitting the intestines. The origin of all of them [is] (Is. 13:18)…“and bows will split (תְּרַטֵּשְׁנָה) the youths.” |
|
תְּרַטֵּשׁ:
לְשׁוֹן בִּקּוּעַ הַמֵּעַיִם, וְאָב לְכֻלָּן: וּקְשָׁתוֹת נְעָרִים תְּרַטַּשְׁנָה.

| and their pregnant women: their pregnant women. |
|
וְהָרֹתֵיהֶם:
מְעֻבָּרוֹת שֶׁלָּהֶם.
|
| 13And Hazael said, "Now what is your servant, the dog, that he shall perform this mighty deed?" And Elisha said, "The Lord has shown you to me as king over Aram." |
|
יגוַיֹּ֣אמֶר חֲזָהאֵ֔ל כִּ֣י מָ֚ה עַבְדְּךָ֙ הַכֶּ֔לֶב כִּ֣י יַעֲשֶֹ֔ה הַדָּבָ֥ר הַגָּד֖וֹל הַזֶּ֑ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֱלִישָׁ֔ע הִרְאַ֧נִי יהֹוָ֛ה אֹתְךָ֖ מֶ֥לֶךְ עַל־אֲרָֽם: |
| 14And he went away from Elisha and came to his master, and he said to him, "What did Elisha say to you?" And he said, "He said to me, 'You will live.' " |
|
ידוַיֵּ֣לֶךְ | מֵאֵ֣ת אֱלִישָׁ֗ע וַיָּבֹא֙ אֶל־אֲדֹנָ֔יו וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֔וֹ מָֽה־אָמַ֥ר לְךָ֖ אֱלִישָׁ֑ע וַיֹּ֕אמֶר אָ֥מַר לִ֖י חָיֹ֥ה תִחְיֶֽה: |
| 15And it came about on the next day that he took a blanket, dipped it in water, and spread it on his face, [after which] he died; and Hazael reigned in his stead. |
|
טווַיְהִ֣י מִֽמָּחֳרָ֗ת וַיִּקַּ֚ח הַמַּכְבֵּר֙ וַיִּטְבֹּ֣ל בַּמַּ֔יִם וַיִּפְרֹ֥שׂ עַל־פָּנָ֖יו וַיָּמֹ֑ת וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ חֲזָהאֵ֖ל תַּחְתָּֽיו: |
| a blanket: Jonathan renders: “gunva.” [Likewise], (Jud. 4: 18) “And she covered him with a blanket,” he renders, ‘b’gunva.’ It is a garment. |
|
הַמַּכְבֵּר:
תַּרְגּוּם יוֹנָתָן: גּוּנְכָא, וְכֵן וַתְּכַסֵּהוּ בַּשְּׂמִיכָה, תַּרְגּוּם: בְּגוּנְכָא, וְהוּא בֶּגֶד.

| and spread it on his face: so that he cool off. |
|
וַיִּפְרֹשׂ עַל פָּנָיו:
לְהִצְטַנֵּן.
|
| 16And in the fifth year of Joram the son of Ahab, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, Jehoram, king of Judah, became king. |
|
טזוּבִשְׁנַ֣ת חָמֵ֗שׁ לְיוֹרָ֚ם בֶּן־אַחְאָב֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וִיהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֑ה מָלַ֛ךְ יְהוֹרָ֥ם בֶּן־יְהוֹשָׁפָ֖ט מֶ֥לֶךְ יְהוּדָֽה: |
| And in the fifth year: Jehoshaphat crowned Joram two years during his lifetime. When they returned from the war they had waged with the king of Moab. So it was taught in Seder Olam (ch. 17), in the fifth year of Jehoram, and as regards the fifth year since Jehoshaphat, it was decreed on Jehoshaphat to be killed in Ramoth Gilead, but he was reprieved for seven years because he cried out [to God]. |

וּבִשְׁנַת חָמֵשׁ וְגוֹ':
יְהוֹשָׁפָט הִמְלִיךְ אֶת יוֹרָם בְּחַיָּיו שְׁתֵּי שָׁנִים כְּשֶׁחָזְרוּ מִן הַמִּלְחָמָה שֶׁנִּלְחֲמוּ בְּמֶלֶךְ מוֹאָב, כָּךְ שְׁנוּיָה בְּסֵדֶר עוֹלָם. בִּשְׁנַת חָמֵשׁ לִיהוֹרָם וִיהוֹשָׁפָט בִּשְׁנַת חֲמִשִּׁים, שֶׁנִּגְזְרָה גְּזֵרָה עַל יְהוֹשָׁפָט לֵהָרֵג בְּרָמוֹת גִּלְעָד, אֶלָּא שֶׁתָּלָה לוֹ בִּשְׁבִיל שֶׁזָּעַק, שֶׁבַע שָׁנִים.

| 17He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. |
|
יזבֶּן־שְׁלשִׁ֥ים וּשְׁתַּ֛יִם שָׁנָ֖ה הָיָ֣ה בְמָלְכ֑וֹ וּשְׁמֹנֶ֣ה שָׁנִ֔ים (כתיב שָׁנִ֔ה) מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלָֽם: |
| 18He went in the way of the kings of Israel, as the house of Ahab had done, for a daughter of Ahab became his wife; and he did what was bad in God's eyes. |
|
יחוַיֵּ֨לֶךְ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ | מַלְכֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל כַּאֲשֶׁ֚ר עָשׂוּ֙ בֵּ֣ית אַחְאָ֔ב כִּי בַּת־אַחְאָ֔ב הָֽיְתָה־לּ֖וֹ לְאִשָּׁ֑ה וַיַּ֥עַשׂ הָרַ֖ע בְּעֵינֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה: |
| 19Now the Lord was unwilling to destroy Judah, for the sake of His servant David, as he said to him to give him a kingdom for his children for all times. |
|
יטוְלֹֽא־אָבָ֚ה יְהֹוָה֙ לְהַשְׁחִ֣ית אֶת־יְהוּדָ֔ה לְמַ֖עַן דָּוִ֣ד עַבְדּ֑וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר אָֽמַר־ל֗וֹ לָתֵ֨ת ל֥וֹ נִ֛יר לְבָנָ֖יו כָּל־הַיָּמִֽים: |
| a kingdom: [Heb.] נִיר. |

| 20In his days, Edom rebelled from under the power of Judah, and they appointed a king over themselves. |
|
כבְּיָמָיו֙ פָּשַׁ֣ע אֱד֔וֹם מִתַּ֖חַת יַד־יְהוּדָ֑ה וַיַּמְלִ֥כוּ עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם מֶֽלֶךְ: |
| and they appointed a king over themselves: Since the time of David they did not have a king, as it is said. (II Sam. 8:14) “And he placed governors in Edom.” Eight kings reigned in Edom before a king reigned in Israel, viz. those enumerated in the Book of Genesis (36:31). Corresponding to them, eight kings reigned in Israel: Ish bosheth, David, Solomon, Rehoboam, Abiam, Asa, Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram. And Edom had no king. What is written above (3:9) that the king of Edom went with Jehoram the son of Ahab and with Jehoshaphat to war against the king of Moab, presents no difficulty because he was not a real king, but a governor, who is also called a king, and as it is said: (I Kings 22:48) “There was no king in Edom; a governor was king.” They had a governor in lieu of a king. |

וַיַּמְלִכוּ עֲלֵיהֶם מֶלֶךְ:
וּמִימֵי דָּוִד לֹא הָיָה לָהֶם מֶלֶךְ, כְּמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: וּמֶלֶךְ אֵין בֶּאֱדוֹם; וַיָּשֶׂם בֶּאֱדוֹם נְצִיבִים, שְׁמוֹנָה מְלָכִים מָלְכוּ בֶּאֱדוֹם לִפְנֵי מְלֹךְ מֶלֶךְ לְיִשְׂרָאֵל, הַמְנוּיִים בְּסֵפֶר בְּרֵאשִׁית, כְּנֶגְדּוֹ מָלְכוּ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל שְׁמוֹנָה מְלָכִים, אִישׁ בּשֶׁת, וְדָוִד, וּשְׁלֹמֹה, וּרְחַבְעָם, וַאֲבִיָּם, וְאָסָא, וִיהוֹשָׁפָט, וִיהוֹרָם, וְלֹא הָיָה מֶלֶךְ לֶאֱדוֹם, וּמַה שֶּׁכָּתוּב לְמַעְלָה שֶׁהָלַךְ מֶלֶךְ אֱדוֹם עִם יְהוֹרָם בֶּן אַחְאָב וְעִם יְהוֹשָׁפָט לְמִלְחָמָה עַל מֶלֶךְ מוֹאָב, לֹא מֶלֶךְ גָּמוּר הוּא אֶלָּא נָצִיב, שֶׁאַף הוּא הָיָה קָרוּי מֶלֶךְ וּכְמוֹ שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: וּמֶלֶךְ אֵין בֶּאֱדוֹם נִצָּב מֶלֶךְ, הַנְּצִיב הָיָה לָהֶם בִּמְקוֹם מֶלֶךְ.

| 21And Joram went over to Zair, and all the chariots were with him: and he got up at night and struck the Edomites who came around to him and the officers of the chariots; and the people fled to their dwellings. |
|
כאוַיַּֽעֲבֹ֚ר יוֹרָם֙ צָעִ֔ירָה וְכָל־הָרֶ֖כֶב עִמּ֑וֹ וַֽיְהִי־ה֞וּא קָ֣ם לַ֗יְלָה וַיַּכֶּ֨ה אֶת־אֱד֜וֹם הַסֹּבֵ֚יב אֵלָיו֙ וְאֵת֙ שָׂרֵ֣י הָרֶ֔כֶב וַיָּ֥נָס הָעָ֖ם לְאֹהָלָֽיו: |
| who came around to him: those near the border. |
|
הַסֹּבֵיב אֵלָיו:
הַסְּמוּכִים אֶל הַסְּפָר.
|
| 22And Edom rebelled from under the power of Judah until this day; then Libnah rebelled at that time. |
|
כבוַיִּפְשַׁ֣ע אֱד֗וֹם מִתַּ֙חַת֙ יַד־יְהוּדָ֔ה עַ֖ד הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֑ה אָ֛ז תִּפְשַׁ֥ע לִבְנָ֖ה בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִֽיא: |
| Libnah rebelled: The inhabitants of Libnah rebelled and rebelled (sic) against the king. I do not know from what nation they were, since Libnah is from Eretz Israel. But I say that they were of the tribe of Judah and rebelled against the king. |
|
תִּפְשַׁע לִבְנָה:
מָרְדוּ יוֹשְׁבֵי לִבְנָה וּמָרְדוּ בַמֶּלֶךְ, וְאֵינִי יוֹדֵעַ מֵאֵיזֶה אֻמָּה הָיוּ, שֶׁהֲרֵי לִבְנָה מֵאֶרֶץ יִשְׂרָאֵל הִיא, וְאוֹמֵר אֲנִי, שֶׁהָיוּ מִשֵּׁבֶט יְהוּדָה, וּמָרְדוּ בַמֶּלֶךְ.

| 23And the remaining events of Joram and all that he did, are written in the book of Chronicles of the kings of Judah. |
|
כגוְיֶ֛תֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י יוֹרָ֖ם וְכָל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָֹ֑ה הֲלֽוֹא־הֵ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֗ים עַל־סֵ֛פֶר דִּבְרֵ֥י הַיָּמִ֖ים לְמַלְכֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה: |
| 24And Joram slept with his forefathers and was buried with his forefathers in the city of David. And Ahaziah his son reigned in his stead. |
|
כדוַיִּשְׁכַּ֚ב יוֹרָם֙ עִם־אֲבֹתָ֔יו וַיִּקָּבֵ֥ר עִם־אֲבֹתָ֖יו בְּעִ֣יר דָּוִ֑ד וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ אֲחַזְיָ֥הוּ בְנ֖וֹ תַּחְתָּֽיו: |
| and was buried with his forefathers in the city of David: And in II Chron. (21:20) it is stated: in the city of David, but not in the graves of the kings. |
|
וַיִּקָּבֵר עִם אֲבֹתָיו בְּעִיר דָּוִד:
וּבְדִבְרֵי הַיָּמִים אוֹמֵר: בְּעִיר דָּוִד וְלֹא בְּקִבְרוֹת הַמְּלָכִים.
|
| 25In the twelfth year of Joram the son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah the son of Jehoram reigned over Judah. |
|
כהבִשְׁנַת֙ שְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה שָׁנָ֔ה לְיוֹרָ֥ם בֶּן־אַחְאָ֖ב מֶ֣לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל מָלַ֛ךְ אֲחַזְיָ֥הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹרָ֖ם מֶ֥לֶךְ יְהוּדָֽה: |
| 26Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he reigned, and one year he reigned in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri king of Israel. |

כובֶּן־עֶשְׂרִ֨ים וּשְׁתַּ֚יִם שָׁנָה֙ אֲחַזְיָ֣הוּ בְמָלְכ֔וֹ וְשָׁנָ֣ה אַחַ֔ת מָלַ֖ךְ בִּירוּשָׁלָ֑םִ וְשֵׁ֚ם אִמּוֹ֙ עֲתַלְיָ֔הוּ בַּת־עָמְרִ֖י מֶ֥לֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵֽל: |
| 27And he went in the way of the house of Ahab, and he did what was evil in the eyes of the Lord, like the house of Ahab, for he was a son-in-law of the house of Ahab. |

כזוַיֵּ֗לֶךְ בְּדֶ֙רֶךְ֙ בֵּ֣ית אַחְאָ֔ב וַיַּ֧עַשׂ הָרַ֛ע בְּעֵינֵ֥י יְהֹוָ֖ה כְּבֵ֣ית אַחְאָ֑ב כִּ֛י חֲתַ֥ן בֵּית־אַחְאָ֖ב הֽוּא: |
| 28And he went with Joram the son of Ahab to war with Hazael, king of Aram, in Ramoth-Gilead; and the Arameans struck Joram. |

כחוַיֵּ֜לֶךְ אֶת־יוֹרָ֣ם בֶּן־אַחְאָ֗ב לַמִּלְחָמָ֛ה עִם־חֲזָאֵ֥ל מֶֽלֶךְ־אֲרָ֖ם בְּרָמֹ֣ת גִּלְעָ֑ד וַיַּכּ֥וּ אֲרַמִּ֖ים אֶת־יוֹרָֽם: |
| 29And King Joram returned to recuperate in Jezreel, from the wounds that the Arameans had inflicted upon him in Ramah when he fought with Hazael, king of Aram; and Ahaziah the son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to see Joram the son of Ahab in Jezreel, because he was ill. |

כטוַיָּשָׁב֩ יוֹרָ֨ם הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ לְהִתְרַפֵּ֣א בְיִזְרְעֶ֗אל מִן־הַמַּכִּים֙ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יַכֻּ֚הוּ אֲרַמִּים֙ בָּֽרָמָ֔ה בְּהִלָּ֣חֲמ֔וֹ אֶת־חֲזָהאֵ֖ל מֶ֣לֶךְ אֲרָ֑ם וַאֲחַזְיָ֨הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹרָ֜ם מֶ֣לֶךְ יְהוּדָ֗ה יָרַ֡ד לִרְא֞וֹת אֶת־יוֹרָ֧ם בֶּן־אַחְאָ֛ב בְּיִזְרְעֶ֖אל כִּֽי־חֹלֶ֥ה הֽוּא: |
