Regardless of your level of observance, Chabad.org always has worthwhile videos for learning and inspiration. I forward them to lapsed Jews and non-Jews and they are favorably received so Kudos to the Chabad team! Reply

Shalom . Very grateful to all at Chabad.org for the work put into these educational videos .These teachings are much needed . I have been searching endlessly for an educational video similar to this one but with more detailed information. For instance a resource that can provide an instructional tutorial/educational guide demonstrating step by step from the beginning of the Sabbath to Havdalah through a Jewish families Torah Faith Home setting Including all prayers at there specific times , Food preparation, proper attire, conversations, family outings, how children are incorporated into the Sabbath, Do’s & Dont’s. Providing elderly , disabled , soul awakened or even single person with no available family members or a synagogue nearby. A “Reality” Sabbath Day will be an opportunity for a positive way to educate , involve & inspire a profound interest & understanding of The Torah & Jewish cultural roots as well as become a part of our for ever expanding Love & respect for Torah . This video is beautiful, heartwarming, and touching to my Jewish soul. It connects me to every Jew through the video's happy, solemn and sweet moments of touching love.

This video I think proves Shabbat is a taste of Olam Haba. All that love, warmth, and joy. As the man in the video stated, the more busy you are the more you appreciate the sacred, joyful rest of Shabbat. And as the man mentioned, doing work during the week in order to unwind and rejoice and do kiddush, sanctifying Shabbat and calling it holy, is a blessing. It's a blessing only Hashem can provide.

The sweet, family moments make me love all my fellow Jews but make me sad I don't have my own family. This Pesach in Jerusalem- hopefully I can marry a nice, loving, God-fearing Jewish woman imminently- may it be this Pesach in Jerusalem. Amen. Reply

Thank you for this beautiful Shabbos video. Although keeping Shabbat, watching this video reinforced within me how important it is to celebrate our Jiddishkeit and thank Hashem that I am Jewish. Reply

Day of winding down. For me Shabbat is the most sacred moment prolonged for 25 hours in the week. I am a working woman. I work four days a week. I prepare for the shabbat. And then my day of winding down from the working week starts. Greatest Jewish holiday of the year. Reply

Very moving video. I cried while I was watching it. I remember the songs that we sang on Friday nite. It brings me back to my childhood. I grow up in an modern orthodox house. I look forward to Shabbat. After I light my candles I take a deep breath and say thank you. I would not have it any other way. Thank you Reply

Keeping the Shabbat If you find yourself alone in a hotel room on Shabbat; how do you prepare and what do you eat? Can you use a microwave or coffee maker? Please help; I am new to keeping the Shabbat. Reply

Rochel Chein for chabad.org July 16, 2018
in response to Wanda:

Using a microwave or coffee maker is not permitted on Shabbat. It's best to prepare food that can be eaten cold on Shabbat, or to warm food on Friday afternoon before Shabbat begins. If there is a local Chabad, you can contact them for assistance. See chabadorg/centers. Reply

Shabbos kodesh
Beautiful video.
I haven't cryed in probably a number of years now and I just cried my eyes out watching this.
I grew up very religious but don't believe in Judaism the way it's portrayed today and I'm not a practicing Jew in the most part however anyone who experienced the beauty of shabbos know that it's part of our essence
I'm what they call a shabbos Yid.
I live for shabbos
I breathe shabbos
God bless humanity
God bless the holy shabbos

Good shabbos Good Shabbos Reply

The Sabbath I love this video. I love watching the peacefulness and serenity. I honestly don't know what I would do without Shabbos. It's so easy to get lost in the busy life of a teenager and all of the things that go on. But on Shabbos I can just sit back and relax and think about the beauty of this world. Reply

To: Keeping Shabbat It's not too expensive...no one said you have to elaborate with it...You mainly just need to have a festive meal, light candles, daven, sing a bit...G-d doesn't care if we use paper plates or if we use gold plates. He only cares that we observe the holiday to the fullest. The people in the video have fancy things but hey, their on camera...wouldn't you want to look good for the camera too...? Reply

Keeping Shabbat This is a very inspirational video but not all people can live this way - even if they wanted to. Isn't it expensive to live this way? Reply

Chaim Raphael Aberdeen, MD March 29, 2021
in response to JDV:

It doesn't have to be expensive. I suggest going to a supermarket that sells kosher meat and buying some kosher chicken with a reliable Hechsher from a G-d fearing Rabbi. Kosher chicken is often cheaper than kosher beef by a lot. That way you have your meat for Shabbat. Shoppers has good deals on Empire Kosher Chicken (at least on the East Coast).

Next, all you need is some kosher wine or kosher grape juice, and Challah. Challah can be bought online, and many regular stores have kosher grape juice like the Kedem brand.

In reality, you don't need silver dishes or the most expensive tablewear. Technically any cloth cover is adequate for the bread. You don't even have to eat meat- Challah and wine (or grape juice) is what is required. In addition, you should add Kosher salt to The Challah. Fish (traditionally Gefilte fish) is eaten on Shabbat.

3 or 4 festive meals is preferred, depending on your custom. However, avoid eating too much, as The Rambam teaches us this is harmful. Shalom. Reply
