Sharing the dais with Google chairman and CEO Eric Schmidt, Rabbi Shlomo Silverman, director of the new Chabad-Lubavitch center serving Carnegie Mellon University, delivered the invocation at the Pittsburgh, Pa.'s school's commencement.

Wearing academic regalia, Silverman - who moved to the city last year - told the graduating students that "it is not by chance that ... you have been given the great privelege to be in the position that you are in today. It is by G‑d's design. ... May your success be measured not in terms of what you receive, but by what you give."

Schmidt, who delivered the keynote address, struck a similar note, telling the crowd that they had the potential to be "the greatest generation."

"Live for the future," he said. "And to figure it out, you need to turn off your computers and phones. It's about the people around you." ...
