Campers in the Chabad-Lubavitch Camp Gan Israel of Orange County, N.Y., held a community car wash in the town of Washingtonville.
"Half the proceeds will go to charity, and half will help benefit a special bunk night out," explained camper Odeya Pinkus, 11, of nearby Sugar Loaf, as she scrubbed the wheels of a black Toyota Avalon. "It feels good to work hard knowing you are helping people."
This summer, Gan Israel offered a host of creative activities, as well as games, story-time, Shabbat parties, Jewish music and dance.
"We are proud that our camp has doubled in size this summer," said camp director Chana Burston. "Our goal is to provide the tools to allow each camper to express creativity and develop him or herself. This past month was certainly a memorable experience for each child."
