(FJC.ru) Kids from the heavily industrialized city of Donetsk, Ukraine, enjoyed a break from the smog at a Chabad-Lubavitch camp outside of the city.
In its 12th season, Camp Gan Israel set up shop this summer at a resort on the coast of the Azov Sea. The change in pace and surroundings was a welcome break for the Donetsk contingent, whose home city is Ukraine's largest and a coal industry hub.
The youngsters enjoyed games, sports, contests, lessons on Jewish traditions, crafts, swimming and other activities. The "Time Capsule" theme of this year's camp stressed the examination of important dates in Jewish history.
The Avi Chai Foundation provided most of the subsidies for the operation of the camp; food was supplied by the Donetsk-based UkrKosher.
