JERUSALEM—There were major disruptions for grownups and lots of fun for kids as more than eight inches of snow fell on Jerusalem and the surrounding area on Wednesday night and Thursday. The unusual winter storm caused the closing of schools, shuttering of shops and major delays on the area’s highways and public transportation.
While many residents stayed at home, kids were out in force on the city’s streets and parks, and undeterred worshippers could be seen navigating through the falling snow, freezing rain, icy streams and puddles of slush to make it to synagogue for Torah study and prayer with a minyan.
