Improving on its record-breaking performance during last year’s Chanukah holiday, the Judaism website Chabad.org made this winter a season to remember.

During the Chanukah season, close to 3 million unique visitors logged more than 4 million page visits. Each figure translated to a substantial increase from last year’s figures.

And as it did during Chanukah last year, the Web statistics company Alexa once again ranked Chabad.org as one of the top-5,000 Internet domains in the world in terms of the number of visitors.

Rabbi Moshe Berghoff, the site’s IT director, put the numbers into perspective.

“This goes beyond a seasonal peak,” he explained. “People visiting Chabad.org are expanding the number of pages they visit and are taking advantage of the breadth of our multilingual and multimedia content.”

All told, over the course of Chanukah, visitors logged 312,559 video plays on Jewish.TV, the site’s clearinghouse of video offerings, including live classes, animated features, professionally produced programs, audio recordings and event footage. Users also logged 189,093 downloads and listening sessions of Chanukah songs, and printed more than 70,000 pages of various latke recipes.

“This is my first time lighting the menorah for Chanukah,” wrote one visitor after viewing the new “Do-It-Yourself Chanukah” production on Jewish.TV, “and I just have to thank Chabad.org for providing such an elegant, clear and straightforward explanation on how to do it.”
