Rabbi Shalom Greenberg writes from Shanghai, China:

"It is with great joy that we inform you that we were once again granted permission by the Chinese government to celebrate at the Ohel Rachel synagogue, this time in honor of Chanukah, on Sunday afternoon, December 5. It was the first time in 47 years that the Menorah was lit in Ohel Rachel!

"More than 70 people from our Jewish Community in Shanghai participated. The celebration began appropriately with the Minchah prayer followed by a greeting from the US Consul General, Mr. Henry A. Levine. The Israeli Consul-General, Mr. Jacob Keidar, was honored with lighting the Menorah, after which we shared some insights on Chanukah. There were Jewish games and crafts for both adults and children to enjoy and lots of latkes and doughnuts were served, of course!"
