Through its streaming video portal, Jewish.tv, the Jewish Web site Chabad.org is taking viewers around the world this Chanukah by broadcasting an assortment of public menorah lightings live.

The “wall-to-wall” coverage began Saturday night New York time with the lighting of a giant Chanukah menorah outside the Chabad House of Yorba Linda, Calif. Sponsored by the North County Chabad-Lubavitch Center, the lighting on the second-night of the eight-day-long Festival of Lights was soon followed by the live broadcast of a menorah lighting at Universal Studios in Hollywood.

A giant menorah lighting in Brisbane, Australia – where it was already the third night of the holiday – came next. Lord Mayor Campbell Newman, Sen. Ronald Boswell, Sen. Claire Moore, and a host of other federal and state legislators were on hand for the event in Brisbane Square.

The schedule for Sunday afternoon included lightings at the Western Wall in Jerusalem, New York and Paris, and the National Menorah lighting in Washington, D.C, where White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel was expected to participate in the American Friends of Lubavitch event.

Future broadcasts include menorah lightings on the fourth night of Chanukah in Binghamton, N.Y., on the fifth night in Calgary, Alberta, and the seventh night in Colorado Springs, Colo.
