אלְדָוִ֗ד מִ֫זְמ֥וֹר חֶֽסֶד־וּמִשְׁפָּ֥ט אָשִׁ֑ירָה לְךָ֖ יְהֹוָ֣ה אֲזַמֵּֽרָה: |
| I shall sing of kindness and judgment when You bestow kindness upon me, I will praise you [with the blessing:] “Blessed be He Who is good and does good,” and when You perform judgment upon me, I will sing, “Blessed be the true Judge.” In either case, to You, O Lord, I shall sing. |

חסד ומשפט אשירה
כשאתה עושה עמי חסד אקלסך ברוך הטוב והמטיב וכשאתה עושה בי משפט אני אשיר ברוך דיין האמת בין כך ובין כך לך ה' אזמרה:

| 2I shall concern myself with the way of integrity. When will it come to me? I shall walk with the innocence of my heart within my house. |

באַשְׂכִּ֚ילָה | בְּדֶ֬רֶךְ תָּמִ֗ים מָ֖תַי תָּב֣וֹא אֵלָ֑י אֶתְהַלֵּ֥ךְ בְּתָם־לְ֜בָבִ֗י בְּקֶ֣רֶב בֵּיתִֽי: |
| I shall concern myself I shall direct my thoughts to the way of integrity. |
|
אשכילה
אתן לב על דרך התמים:
|
| When will it come to me The straight path, to walk upon it, and I shall walk with the integrity of my heart even within my house, in private as well as in public. |
|
מתי תבא אלי
הדרך הישרה להתהלך בה ואתהלך בתם לבבי אף בקרב ביתי בהצנע כמו בפרהסיא:
|
| 3I do not place before my eyes any base thing; I hate doing wayward deeds; it does not cling to me. |

גלֹֽא־אָשִׁ֨ית | לְנֶ֥גֶד עֵינַ֗י דְּֽבַר־בְּלִ֫יָּ֥עַל עֲשֹֽׂה־סֵטִ֥ים שָׂנֵ֑אתִי לֹ֖א יִדְבַּ֣ק בִּֽי: |
| wayward Heb. סטים, an expression of (Num. 5:12): “whose wife strays (תשטה) from the right path,” to turn away from the road, destolemant in Old French, to swerve. |

| 4A perverse heart turns away from me; I know no evil. |
|
דלֵבָ֣ב עִ֖קֵּשׁ יָס֣וּר מִמֶּ֑נִּי רָ֜֗ע לֹ֣א אֵדָֽע: |
| I know no evil I love no [evil] (Another explanation: [Shem Ephraim]) I recognize no evil thing. |
|
רע לא אדע
לא אהב לא אכיר בדבר רע:
|
| 5He who slanders his neighbor in secret, I cut him down; one whose eyes are raised up high and his heart is expansive, I cannot tolerate him. |
|
המְלָשְׁנִ֬י (כתיב מְלָושְׁנִ֬י) בַסֵּ֨תֶר | רֵעֵהוּ֘ אוֹת֪וֹ אַצְ֫מִ֥ית גְּֽבַהּ־עֵ֖ינַיִם וּרְחַ֣ב לֵבָ֑ב א֜וֹת֗וֹ לֹ֣א אוּכָֽל: |
| I cannot tolerate him that he should be my friend, lest I learn from his deeds. |

אותו לא אוכל
שיהא חבירי שלא אלמד ממעשיו:

| 6My eyes are upon the faithful of the land to dwell with me; he who goes on the way of the innocent, he will serve me. |
|
ועֵינַ֚י | בְּנֶֽאֶמְנֵי־אֶרֶץ֘ לָשֶׁ֪בֶת עִ֫מָּדִ֥י הֹלֵ֣ךְ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ תָּמִ֑ים ה֜֗וּא יְשָֽׁרְתֵֽנִי: |
| 7He will not dwell within my house; he who practices deceit, who speaks lies, will not be established before my eyes. |
|
זלֹֽא־יֵשֵׁ֨ב | בְּקֶ֣רֶב בֵּיתִי֘ עֹשֵׂ֪ה רְמִ֫יָּ֥ה דֹּבֵ֖ר שְׁקָרִ֑ים לֹֽא־יִ֜כּ֗וֹן לְנֶ֥גֶד עֵינָֽי: |
| 8Betimes I cut down all the wicked of the earth; to cut down from the city of the Lord all workers of violence. |

חלַבְּקָרִ֗ים אַצְמִ֥ית כָּל־רִשְׁעֵי־אָ֑רֶץ לְהַכְרִ֥ית מֵֽעִיר־יְ֜הֹוָ֗ה כָּל־פֹּ֥עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן: |
| Betimes I cut down Every day, I cut down the wicked of Israel little by little, those who are condemned to death. |
