After the jews were redeemed from Egypt, G‑d miraculously split the Red Sea, enabling them to escape. Moses sang praise to G‑d with the men, while his sister, the prophetess Miriam, took tambourines and danced and sang with the women. “It was in the merit of the righteous women we were redeemed from Eygpt; and it will be in the merit of the righteous women that we will be redeemed from this exile,” say out sages.
