About the Course

Kosher certification. You may have seen the symbols, but do you know what goes on behind the scenes? From fish markets in China to vegan shops in Montreal, this course travels around the world to find out what’s really going on beneath the label. Join us on our four-part journey to discover why kosher supervision is so important.

Course syllabus

Lesson 1: Good for the Body, Good for the Soul
We all know that the foods we consume impact the way we feel. But what about the spiritual ramifications of our diet? In this first lesson, learn about why we keep kosher, and how modern day certification evolved.
Lesson 2: Cows, Sheep and Chickens, Oh My!
Jewish law forbids us from causing harm to animals. So how can we eat them? Whether you’re a vegan or a carnivore, there’s something for everyone in this second installment of Kosher Uncovered.
Lesson 3: What’s not on the label
You go to the store and buy a jug of 100% pure Canadian maple syrup, expecting that there’s only one thing inside… but - you may be wrong! Tune in to our third lesson and get the inside scoop on what doesn’t land up on the label.
Lesson 4: No Licking the Spoon!
When thinking about the food we eat, it's easy to forget about the machinery that’s used to make it. But not if you’re a kosher supervisor! In this final installment of Kosher Uncovered, we peel back the lid on this final ingredient of the kosher industry.
