More than 800 people gathered at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate to celebrate the eight-day Jewish holiday of Chanukah and the resurgence of Jewish life in Germany.
Costumed actors put on a production of the Chanukah story at the public menorah lighting at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate. Organized by Chabad-Lubavitch of Berlin in conjunction with the Israeli Embassy, the Jewish National Fund, the World Zionist Organization, the Central Council of Jews in Germany, B’nai B’rith, and other organizations, the celebration included U.S Ambassador Philip Murphy, Bundestag vice president Petra Pau, and a representative from the local municipality.
