| 1A song of ascents. Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which will not falter but will abide forever. |

אשִׁ֗יר הַֽמַּֽ֫עֲל֥וֹת הַבֹּֽטְחִ֥ים בַּֽיהֹוָ֑ה כְּהַר־צִיּ֥וֹן לֹֽא־יִ֜מּ֗וֹט לְעוֹלָ֥ם יֵשֵֽׁב: |
| Those who trust in the Lord: will not falter, like Mount Zion, which will not falter, for just as Jerusalem is surrounded by mountains, so is the Holy One, blessed be He, around His people. |

שיר המעלות הבוטחים בה':
לא ימוטו כהר ציון אשר לא ימוט כי כאשר ירושלים הרים סביב לה כן הקב"ה סביב לעמו:

| 2Jerusalem has mountains around it, and the Lord is around His people from now and to eternity. |
|
ביְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֗ם הָרִים֘ סָבִ֪יב לָ֥הּ וַֽ֖יהֹוָה סָבִ֣יב לְעַמּ֑וֹ מֵֽ֜עַתָּ֗ה וְעַד־עוֹלָֽם: |
| 3For the rod of wickedness will not rest on the lot of the righteous, because the righteous do not stretch out their hands into wrongdoing. |
|
גכִּ֚י לֹ֪א יָנ֡וּחַ שֵׁ֚בֶט הָרֶ֗שַׁע עַל֘ גּוֹרַ֪ל הַצַּדִּ֫יקִ֥ים לְמַ֡עַן לֹֽא־יִשְׁלְח֖וּ הַצַּדִּיקִ֨ים | בְּעַוְלָ֬תָה יְדֵיהֶֽם: |
| For the rod of wickedness will not rest on the lot of the righteous: For the Holy One, blessed be He, will not allow the rule of the wicked to rest on the righteous because the righteous are careful not to stretch out their hand in wrongdoing. |
|
כי לא ינוח שבט הרשע על גורל הצדיקים:
(כי לא יתן הקב"ה את ממשלת הרשעים לנוח על הצדיקים) למען כי הצדיקים נזהרין מלשלוח ידיהם בעולה:

| 4Be good, O Lord, to the good and to the upright in their hearts. |
|
דהֵיטִ֣יבָה יְ֖הֹוָה לַטּוֹבִ֑ים וְלִֽישָׁרִ֥ים בְּלִבּוֹתָֽם: |
| 5And those who turn their crooked ways-may the Lord lead them away with the workers of iniquity, [and may there be] peace on Israel. |
|
הוְהַמַּטִּ֚ים | עֲקַלְקַלּוֹתָ֗ם יֽוֹלִיכֵ֣ם יְ֖הֹוָה אֶת־פֹּֽעֲלֵ֣י הָאָ֑וֶן שָׁ֜ל֗וֹם עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל: |
| and those who turn their crooked ways: on the people to find wicked accusations, may the Lord lead them away with the workers of iniquity. |

והמטים עקלקלותם:
על הבריות למצוא עלילות רשע יוליכם ה' את פועלי און:
